Are We Addicted to Being Distracted? The Brainrot Era
Details
Hello everyone. Welcome to our exciting new gathering! Our primary goal is to create a space where kindred spirits come together to engage in thought-provoking conversations, and forge meaningful connections along the way. At our events, we love to delve into the profound and the curious, so you won't find us engaging in small talk. Prepare for stimulating discussions on philosophical topics that will inspire your curiosity. Plus, we'll be conversing in English, making it an inclusive experience for everyone.
Have you ever opened TikTok or Instagram just to watch a couple of videos, only to realize that an hour has passed?
The term "brainrot" has become popular online to describe the feeling of consuming so much short-form, fast-paced and highly stimulating content that your brain feels overloaded, tired, or unable to focus. It can also refer more broadly to the habit of constantly scrolling and filling every quiet moment with new content.
But is brainrot really a new problem, or is it simply a new way of describing something humans have always done?
During this discussion, we'll explore our relationship with short-form content, attention, boredom, algorithms and constant stimulation. We'll talk about whether endless scrolling is changing the way we think, whether we have become uncomfortable with silence and boredom, and whether social media is actually making us addicted to distraction.
No expertise is needed. This is an open discussion about something most of us experience in our everyday lives.
As always, no expertise is required—only curiosity and a willingness to exchange ideas.

> Event Rules
> To ensure a meaningful and respectful experience, here are the guidelines:
> Focus on the Group's Nature: Questions must be philosophical, spiritual, or mysterious. Avoid controversial or divisive topics like geopolitics, current wars, or political debates. We also ask participants not to repeat topics already discussed in past events.
> Respectful Interaction: Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but rudeness, interrupting others, or dismissive comments will not be tolerated. Let’s keep this a safe and welcoming space for discussion.
> Stay On-Topic: When discussing a card’s prompt, please avoid going off on tangents or unrelated topics. The timer is set to 10 minutes for each question to keep conversations productive and engaging.
> Raise Your Hand: To maintain order and give everyone a fair chance to speak, participants must raise their hand before contributing to the discussion.
> This event is all about curiosity, exploration, and respect. Bring your best ideas, an open mind, and a willingness to engage in meaningful conversations. We look forward to hearing your unique perspectives and making this new format a memorable experience for everyone!
