R in production - Creating APIs with the plumber package

Details

Dear rusershamburg-community,

we are happy to invite you to our next meetup, which will take place on the 6th of June. This time we will address the broad topic of "R in production"

Roman Popat will be giving a short english tutorial/presentation on the `plumber`-package (https://github.com/rmnppt/plumber-tutorial). In his own words:

"Dear R novices and experts. Please join me at the meetup where I would like to discuss the suitability of R in production environments or among other technologies. I will give a live demo of the plumber R package (hats to Jeff Allen) used to expose your R code via a REST API. I will show you that this is very easy to do and then give you an account of my experience using it including its limitations and future prospects. Please also stick around for a wider discussion on R and its place in the technology mix. Looking forward to it."

Afterwards we will have a chance to discuss our own experiences with R "for production". We currently plan to collect some of YOUR questions before and address them together in an open discussion.
Please add your thoughts to https://github.com/rusershamburg/meetup-repo/edit/master/meetup-13/Readme.md and we will take it from there.

As always, we are very happy to welcome new R programmers to our group. Looking forward to meet you all in a couple of weeks!

PS:
A special thanks goes also to WeWork, who welcome and host us at their "Stadthaus" (directions: https://bit.ly/2rZdXlX) this time.
