Chasing The Tide - Video & Panel Discussion
Details
In 2023, adventurers Chrissy and Jay Kleberg walked every inch of Texas’ seven barrier islands – a distance of more than 370 miles – in just 21 days. This series tells the story of that journey and of the wildlife and people that inhabit this vibrant and resilient coast. For some, the Texas coast is merely a weekend destination; for others, it is dynamic, wild, and constantly under threat.
Video screening is the episode in the series featuring Galveston coastline.
After the video, there will be a panel discussion moderated by Sandra Metoyer, the executive director of the Environmental Institute of Houston.
Panelists are as follows:
Jay Kleberg: Founding executive director of The Gulf Trust, Conservationist & filmmaker
Adrian Garcia: Harris County Commissioner of Precinct 2, with a major focus on parks and wildlife
Suzanne Simpson: Ecologist, wildlife biologist, author, and natural resource manager
Michael J. Turco: General Manager of the Harris-Galveston and Fort Bend Subsidence Districts
After the video and discussion, there will be a reception with snacks and an opportunity to meet the panelists.
