What we’re about
Whether you want to learn French, speak French more often, stay connected to your culture, or just enjoy some French-related activities, we'd love to have you join us. Events are open to both Alliance Members and non-Members. Alliance Members save with lower event fees and course prices.
Some examples of what we do:
- We have French language classes taught by native speakers for all levels from absolute beginner to advanced, for both adults and children.
- We have a monthly French breakfast where you can get together for coffee, croissant and French conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. We group people according to level so the native French speakers and advanced speakers can chat away, and people who are still learning will have someone to help the conversation flow.
- We run regular social events where we can share French food, culture and conversation. For example past events have included : Galette des Rois and Games at the park, Semaine de la Francophonie movie events, Tarte Tatin and Macaron baking competitions with great prizes, events at the French Film Festival, Petanque etc.
- Coming up we have a Bastille Day Dance Night at Sky City Hamilton on 15 July and a Piano Recital and master class with a touring French pianist named Maxime Zecchini on 27 August.
- In the past we have organised language class trips to New Caledonia, and look foward to being able to do so again in future.
Please note Meetup policy that attendees under the age of 18 must have a guardian with them.
