Folsom Bike-Trails Tour, Sat 5/23
Details
If you’ve not ridden the Inner Folsom Trails, this is your chance to see this amazing web of beautiful, neighborhood bike-paths. (Not riverside parkways.) Same ride plan as prior Wed, repeated.
Bike ride, 12 Miles.“Basic” level (~8-10mph) - not speedy but not hopelessly slow. You should be able to hold an average 8mph for 6 miles. If you can only meander at 5 or 6 mph, it will be too slow for the group. If unsure, please test yourself in advance (*1).
Paved trails - but crossing some street intersections where we will tighten the group then cross per safety rules. Nearly all flat, but for one steep, short hill; easy to push the bike up. We’ll stop, rest, snack at about 6 miles. This is not E-bikes (unless *2). In the spirit of a “tour”, the pace might be “accordion-style” with organizer stopping at trail forks, waiting for any slower riders.
Meet at 10:00am, Glenn Station Park-n-Ride, RT (Regional Transit train), Folsom Blvd x Glenn Drive. (No restrooms here - arrive rested. There will be on stops.) Check this page in case of cancelation.
Bring: Helmet, water, snack, spare bike tube, tires inflated. (There are about 10 rough-plank bridges. If 100 psi, consider lowering your pressure.)
This is a leaderless event in the sense that organizers have suggested the gathering; nothing further. Your top priority is your judgement for your own safety. There are busy street crossings, blind corners and reckless E-motorcycles. There will be a safety discussion at the start.
*1) Test your biking pace for 6 miles on level at 8mph. See“15 Best Cycling Apps in 2026: Easily Track Your Rides“, [ https://bikexchange.com/best-cycling-apps/ ]. Or measure distance on map and a timer.
*2) E-bike maybe OK if willing to go slow and stop for the the leader’s directions at the trail forks. Also there are contradictory signs:“No Motorized Vehicle or Bikes” yet another sign says “E-bikes Allowed”.
