Brown your Ravine
Details
Meet at the corner of Sophia Pkwy and Green Valley Rd (next to the gas station... park for free along Sophia Pkwy) between 9:45-9:55. Wheels up PROMPTLY at 10am.
We'll ride up the trail after crossing Green Valley Rd (quick, steep climb) to a fun downhill before continuing along the lake trail over to Browns Ravine, where we'll continue on the Browns Ravine Trail all the way out to New York Creek Bridge... may even continue past that to loop Monte Vista Trail for our return trip back to our vehicles. In total, this should be a 20+ mile ride with, probably, 1250-1500 feet elevation gain. While not a terribly technical ride, there are some quick switchbacks and punchy uphills (and downhills, too) where being in the right gear is important.
Weather forecast calls for a high of 71 (um, yes, please!), so figure high 50s when we start and mid-upper 60s by the time we're done.
With such nice weather and depending on time, etc, maybe meet up for lunch after the ride.
Bring plenty of water, possibly sunscreen, snacks and a well-tuned mtb (emtb recommended w/ full battery). Oh, and saw that someone over at Lake Natoma saw (and posted a photo) of a rattlesnake yesterday (I know... Feb 3?) but, with this weather, not totally surprised.
