Knife making - Damascus and deer antler hunting knife

Details

THIS IS A TWO DAY CLASS. SATURDAY FROM NOON - 3:30ISH. SUNDAY FROM NOON UNTIL YOU ARE DONE WITH YOUR KNIFE.

This is an introduction to knife making using hidden tangs and one piece horn handles. We will be using existing damascus billets as a starting point for designing, cutting and grinding your own unique knife. We will be adding a brass bolster, deer antler handle and other decorative elements. We will be covering: profiling, tang design, primary beveling, heat treating, finishing and sharpening of bench-made knives.

This is not a damascus forging class, but we will be heat treating in the forge.

Ages: 16 - 116
Cost: $200

All materials are included.
Wear comfortable, well fitting clothes (no loose cords or excess fabric that can become entangled) and closed toed shoes. Feel free to bring a beverage or a snack. There will be a brief intermission each day for heat treating and glue drying.
