Waster Wooden Sword - basic woodworking with routers and saws
Details
In this fun beginner class we will learn to create a "waster" or wooden practice sword. Wasters as wooden practice weapons have been found in nearly every culture over a number of centuries, and into the modern era in Europe and the United States.
Used commonly in the modern Historical European Martial Arts community, the term refers to wasters fashioned to resemble western European weapons like the longsword or arming sword.
We will be using the table saw, router table, ornamental router mill, cnc router, bandsaw, sanders, drill presses, and the wood lathe to create your very own design. Templates will be available to guide your designs.
Several sizes and styles of swords can be made from a variety of hardwoods.
This is an all day class, so fee free to bring or order snacks and beverages.
