What we’re about
The purpose of the book club is to discuss literary fiction. We review quality fiction or what is generally considered literature: examples range from Toni Morrison, Cormac McCarthy, Margaret Atwood, Jane Austen, Ishiguro, to Coetzee etc. Our group has been going strong for over a year! We normally meet downtown Hammond about once a month, on a weekend afternoon.
The group has formed a steady circle of regulars (or characters, if you will)
G.S., Our international host, is a polished, bespectacled man with a quick smile and an expressive brow. Erudite, dynamic, and compassionate. G.S. seeks to explore the world’s wonders while helping those in need along the way.
Our resident artist, A.R, is a woman of ambiguous age with a striking resemblance to Elaine from Seinfeld. Witty and competitive, she thrives outside the grind of the rat race, embracing humor and creativity instead.
C.R., with her glasses and long hair, is unassuming yet carries a quiet confidence. Whether diagnosing toddlers or embarking on a trek through the Grand Canyon with A.R. (the Elaine impersonator), C.R. is primed for adventure and laughter.
M. our latest addition, sports a beard and a set of wheels. A gamer and keen observer, M. brings a distinctive voice to our group, offering unique perspectives and insights that enrich our discussions.
S.C., our co-host, site narrator, and the group’s slacker (I barely finish ½ the books we discuss). S.C, is a former academic turned mid-level administrator. Analytical, irreverent, and resourceful, S. brings something to the group. I just know I do.
