Summer Blooms at RHS Wisley

We are going to meet up at RHS Wisley Gardens where the summer flowers are in full flow....

There will still be blooms in the many and varied borders and the glasshouses will be displaying tropical and alpine flowers. The bird hide is always a great place to see the hungry birds feeding at the hanging feeders and a great place to get those bird-in-flight photos. You might even see a kingfisher....or you might not!

The gardens open at 8am for photographers and I plan to arrive at about 8.30-8.45 - just before the gardens open to the general public. you may not wish to be so early and so I suggest a meeting time of 10am (unless you want to come early - put a message on here to let us know what will be your arrival time) just after the entry point after the pay-desks on the Terrace just behind. We can then either wander in groups or individually or we can go round as a group and perhaps all agree a time and place to meet for lunch. For the later arrivals I'll let you know my tel number nearer the time and I can tell you where we are.

COST: Meetup cost £5 in cash to me on the day please for each member and each guest...(please exact change as I'm unlikely to have any). Garden entrance fee: Free to members, £19.50 adults (with no gift-aid). Tickets can be either bought online in advance or on the door.

We all hope for a nice pleasant warm day but please bear in mind it could be a little wet so please bring brollies and showerproofs if the weather suggests rain. Rain is good for flower photography - think water droplets. Whatever the weather there will still be great photos to be had.
I love flower photography and if anyone would like any advice I'm happy to offer suggestions as we go around. Flower photography is a genre in its own class and it would be good together to explore ways of getting that perfect photograph where the single flower really stands out in your photo - think blurring the background with a wide aperture, think light and shadows and choosing the viewpoint carefully...... - all of this we can discuss as we go around which should be fun. Bring whatever kit you have - a phone can be a great way of catching that one photo. If you have interchangeable lenses then a macro or zoom is good......

Several cafes for lunch and several loos around the garden. It'll be good if we agree a time to meet for lunch and a drink/ice creams to catch up with each other and to get to know new members.

So this should be a good day out and I hope to see you there. If you are a new member or this is your first meetup with us - we are a very friendly informal and laid back group and we just enjoy our photography but just as importantly we enjoy the social element of meetups - so please join us.
