A Midweek Autumn Visit to Winkworth Arboretum.
Details
The colours of autumn are starting to show all around us. Winkworth Arboretum is the National Trust's only arboretum. It was created in the early twentieth century and has been cared for by the NT for some 60 years. It has about 1000 species of bushes and trees which create a beautiful show of colours in the autumn. Winkworth Arboretum sits above, around and in a valley setting with paths through the trees leading to a beautiful lake and surrounding lands.
Autumn is a busy time of years with many visitors so I would suggest arriving early to secure a parking space.
Take a look at the NT's website and please read tips for visiting this autumn - see HERE .
Price: Entry - £14.00 adult
NT members free
Meetup fee - £5 for each person (Please bring £5 cash with you as it is unlikely I'll have much change.)
There is a cafe at the entrance and adjacent loos.
We'll meet up at the entrance just after the pay kiosk.
Please dress for the weather and one can expect showers . The ground and paths may well be a bit muddy - so waterproof shoes or boots are advisable. Of course we might have sunshine which would be a bonus.
So this should be a great trip out and I hope you can join us.
