We'll meet up at The Peninsula Barracks Garden in Peninsula Square.

Peninsula Sq is near to the railway station. For drivers I would suggest park and ride: https://www.winchester.gov.uk/parking/parkandride

Cost £3.50 per car - includes return bus for occupants of car. I'll be parking at East Car Park (St Catherine's).

We'll spend some time at Peninsula Square as there is a lot to photograph, after which we will make our way downhill to Winchester Cathedral where we can spend a couple of hours photographing the interior and exterior. Ticket cost £14.90 on the door or £13.90 in advance - the good news is that the ticket lasts for a whole year of thereafter free entries.

There is an information desk with leaflets and exhibitions to visit. Built from the eleventh century, Winchester cathedral is the longest cathedral in the world. There are 3 floors to visit and lots to photograph inside this magnificent place of worship.

The grounds are no less stunning with many more photo-opportunities to be had. There is a large cathedral cafe in the grounds where I suggest we meet , perhaps at 1.30pm for lunch.

After lunch we'll walk back to the High Street and then down to and visit Winchester City Mill which has free entry. We'll see the City Bridge, originall built by St Swithun but replaced in 1813. From here we'll walk along the river Itchen and visit Wolvesey Castle, the original residence of the bishop.

For those who have not parked in St Catherine's park and ride you may wish to take your own route to go home but for those who are in this park and ride we can walk further along the river along Keat's Walk which will bring us out on the same road as the car park.

So a great day out in this wonderful city with lots of chances for some good photos.

Cost of meetup: £5 for each person going - please bring exact cash on the day.

TIPS: Wear sensible shoes as it is a long walk.
Bring water.
Pack a small brolly - it might rain.
Sun screen and hat if sunny.

See you there.

Peter
