RUNTIME: 80 minutes

SYNOPSIS: Wendy Carroll (Michelle Williams) is driving to Ketchikan, Alaska, in hopes of a summer of lucrative work at the Northwestern Fish cannery, and the start of a new life with her dog, Lucy. When her car breaks down in Oregon, however, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, and she confronts a series of increasingly dire economic decisions, with far-ranging repercussions for herself and Lucy.

BLURBS:
"Reichardt is not out for blasts. Evidently she believes that drama isn't only a matter of great agons: lesser jolts can open chasms." - Stanley Kauffman, The New Republic

"Does not contain a superfluous word or shot. But underneath this plain narrative surface — or rather, resting on it the way a smooth stone rests in your palm, —is a lucid and melancholy inquiry into the current state of American society." - A.O. Scott, The New York Times

"In a minimalist film of muted emotions, Michelle Williams gives as lovely a performance as a moviegoer could ask for. It's a portrait of a life going grievously wrong, or one that's never been right." - Joe Morgenstern, The Wall Street Journal
