Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) Michele Gondry @ Regal Harbour View
Details
I found this movie confusing the first time I watched it, albeit I was probably 14 and a lot less sophisticated a movie-watcher at the time.
Heads-up: this is the Regal in the Western Branch-Suffolk area.
RUNTIME: 108 minutes
RATED: R
SYNOPSIS: After a painful breakup, Clementine (Kate Winslet) undergoes a procedure to erase memories of her former boyfriend Joel (Jim Carrey) from her mind. When Joel discovers that Clementine is going to extremes to forget their relationship, he undergoes the same procedure and slowly begins to forget the woman that he loved. Directed by former music video director Michel Gondry, the visually arresting film explores the intricacy of relationships and the pain of loss.
BLURBS:
"It is a film that demands the presence of thoughts we put aside when surrounded by people, things we only think about when we're alone, buried in everlasting thoughts. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is the rarest of all films..." - Wael Khairy, RogerEbert.com
"At its core, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind could have been just another love story. Refracted through Kaufman's wonderfully weird prism, it's something truly memorable." - Christy Lemire, Associated Press
"The latest and loveliest alternative universe created by Charlie Kaufman, America's most -- we should probably say only -- intellectually provocative screenwriter." - Richard Corliss, Time Magazine
