First Wes Anderson movie that I really enjoyed. We'll be in the large room, Meeting Room 2, to the right of the entrance.

One surprising fact for me (or maybe not that surprising, given the tone): This is adapted from Stefan Zweig's 1939 novel Beware of Pity, not from the 1929 novel Grand Hotel by Vicki Baum. (I should read these books; then I'll know what I'm talking about.)

RUNTIME: 99 minutes

RATING: R

SYNOPSIS: In the 1930s, the Grand Budapest Hotel is a popular European ski resort, presided over by concierge Gustave H. (Ralph Fiennes). Zero, a junior lobby boy, becomes Gustave's friend and protégé. Gustave prides himself on providing first-class service to the hotel's guests, including satisfying the sexual needs of the many elderly women who stay there. When one of Gustave's lovers dies mysteriously, Gustave finds himself the recipient of a priceless painting and the chief suspect in her murder.

BLURBS:
"Just plain fun, full of the filmmaker's signature flourishes and curlicues, worked out with skill and finesse." - Jason Bailey, Flavorwire

"Grand isn't good enough a word for this Budapest Hotel. Great is more like it." - Richard Corliss, TIME
