BLUG Meetup - Choosing a linux "distro"
Details
Join us Wednesday, January 21st, from 5:30 PM to 7 PM at Bellingham Makerspace as Kevin Burkeland walks us through how to choose a Linux "distro".
There isn't just one "Linux" operating system; the core Linux system and various bundles of user environments and applications are packaged as "distributions" (commonly called "distros") by several different groups, companies, and non-profit organizations, each with different goals in mind. Depending on how you plan to use Linux (or your level of familiarity), one or another distro might be a good fit for you. Join us as we share some of the different things to think about when choosing a distro.
Each BLUG meetup will be in three parts:
- the first half hour will be arrival and community support. Need help installing some app or flavor of Linux? Make sure to show up early and partake in the wisdom from some of our more experienced members.
- After that, we will have guest sessions. Do you have ideas on what you would like to see presented or want to present yourself? Let us know!
- After the presentations are done, we will have a general social time to get to know each other and to collaborate on new things.
