Details

Hamta Pass and Chandrataal is one of the most amazing treks for beginners in Himalayan trekking. The trek route with remarkably rich with vegetation has lot of scenic landscapes and huge rock formations. Explore trails that meander through alpine forests.This trek is a gateway to the Spiti Valley from the Manali valley.

Day 1: Reporting and Acclimatization day.
We will get down at Patlikuhal (20 km before Manali and 20 km after Kullu) from bus. Jeep ride to Rumsu base camp(10 km). After freshening up and breakfast all the participants will undergo through registration process for the trek. Post Lunch we will go for an acclimatization walk. Orientation regarding the trek will be given by the chief organizer in the evening. The orientation will cover information like rucksack packing, marching/walking technique and general awareness about a Himalayan Trek. Overnight stay at Rumsu base camp.

Day 2 : Rumsu to Chikka
After morning breakfast we will start the day’s trek with a beautiful drive to Hamta dam from Rumsu at 8 am. The trek to Chikka starts from Hamta Dam and is easy. It takes around 2-3 hours to complete it. There is a small forest patch and then two wooden bridges before you reach the camp site. Chikka has big rock boulders and a beautiful waterfall.
Overnight in tents at Chikka.

Day 3:Chikka to Balu ka Ghera
After morning breakfast we will start the trek for Balu Ka Ghera. Trek duration is around 4 to 5 hours from Chikka to Balu ka Ghera scaling 11900 feet. The initial part of the trek goes through the bank of the river crossing few rock boulders. There is a water stream that needs to be crossed on the way.
Balu ka Ghera is a large plain ground on the bank of the river and camping at this spot is a dream in reality. One can spot Indrasan, the highest peak of Manali valley from here. Snacks would be served in the evening followed by dinner. Overnight camping at Balu Ka Ghera.

Day 4: Balu ka Ghera to Hamta Pass and Return.
Today’s trek starts early as we will try covering the maximum snow patch before sun rise. The trek route from Balu Gehra towards Hamta Pass is a moderate climb, scaling 4,200 meters. The trek route is covered with snow, so starts by 6 am in the morning from Balu ka Gera. It takes around 4 to 5 hours to reach the top of the Hamta Pass.
We will then descend back to Balu Ka Ghera camp site. Overnight stay at Balu Ka Ghera.

Day 5:Shia Ghoru to Chandrataal to Chatru
After morning breakfast we will start the trek to Chatru. The beautiful view of the valleys of Lahaul and Spiti are not to be missed during the trek. The mountains of Pir Panjal and Spiti ranges adds to the beauty. Chatru is a meeting point of roads coming from Rohtang Pass, Hampta Paas and Spiti. Jeep safari to Chandrataal from Chatru . Myths say that Yudhishthir, the eldest Pandava was called to heaven from Chandra Taal. Overnight camping at Chatru.

Day 6 :Decsend to Hamta Camp and departure from Manali.
After morning breakfast we will start our descend to Hamta dam via the same route. The descend is normal and takes around 5 hours. Jeep Ride to Manali. Departure will happen from Manali by 5 PM.

Woolen clothes, Woolen cap, Jackets/Wind-cheater.
Socks(4 pairs)
Thermal wear(1-2 pairs)
Trekking shoes(should have ankle support, good grip and waterproof)
Snow gloves/normal gloves.
Sunglasses/goggles.
Lunch box, water bottle, spoon.
Sunscreen lotion.
Personal medication.
Raincoat.
Torch and batteries.
Rucksack bag

Instruction for participants :

Separate stay for male and female.
Smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited.
Buying drugs or any illegal material is strictly prohibited, the participant will be detained and handed over to government authority.
Instructions from Guide should be strictly followed.
Note : Participants need to bring the medical certificate from a certified doctor for any respiratory disease and blood pressure.

CANCELLATION POLICY :

If for any reason one wishes to cancel his/her trek, an email intimation needs to be sent to kailashrathtreks@gmail.com Cancellation requests will not be taken over a phone call. However, one can phone to check whether the cancellation has been processed.
The cancellation charges are as under:
· Cancellation before 14 days - Rs 2000
· Cancellation within 14 days – NO REFUND
Note: All cancellation refunds will be processed back to the bank account or the credit card account from which the trek fee has been paid. A processing charge of 2% of the trek fee will be applicable on all refunds.
