About us
Welcome to the Hana Counselling Dance and Wellness Group.
This group is a welcoming and inclusive community space for anyone interested in movement, dance, mental wellbeing, creativity, mindfulness, self-care, and meaningful human connection.
The group is organised by Hana Counselling and Education Limited, a professional counselling and community wellbeing organisation based in Auckland. Hana Counselling works in collaboration with government and local government organisations, community organisations, and experienced professionals and facilitators to deliver inclusive and professionally facilitated wellbeing programmes and events.
Our programmes bring together movement, dance, mental wellbeing, creative arts, mindfulness, personal development, and social connection. We are committed to creating accessible and welcoming spaces where people from diverse backgrounds can participate, connect, and experience the benefits of movement and creativity.
Our director, Ai Kihara, is a researcher and trauma-informed mental health practitioner with a background in counselling and social work. Ai is passionate about bringing together evidence-informed approaches, movement, creativity, mindfulness, and community connection to support wellbeing in everyday life.
Our events may include Dance Movement Therapy, community dance programmes, creative movement, Creative Arts activities, Zen mindfulness, wellbeing workshops, personal development programmes, and other community activities designed to support connection, confidence, resilience, and wellbeing.
We regularly collaborate with experienced dance professionals, Dance Movement Therapists, wellbeing practitioners, and community facilitators to offer a diverse range of programmes and experiences.
Some events are offered free of charge through community funding and partnerships, while others may be low-cost workshops or community gatherings. Please check each individual event description for programme details, eligibility, and registration information.
No previous dance or movement experience is required unless otherwise stated. People of different ages, cultures, backgrounds, identities, and abilities are welcome.
