Hand Tool Woodworking and Shop Talk

Hand Tool Woodworking and Shop Talk is for people who enjoy making things out of wood, with a particular soft spot for planes, chisels, and saws. We cover sharpening, joinery, timber selection, and the slow satisfying business of getting a surface flat without a machine. Members range from people with a well-equipped garage to people working on a bench in a small apartment with three tools and a lot of determination.

Meetups involve bringing along whatever you are working on, finished or not, and talking through the decisions and the mistakes. Half the value is in hearing how somebody else solved a problem you have been stuck on for weeks. We also share sources for tools and lumber, discuss restoring old equipment found at sales, and occasionally organise a group project.
