HoA #74: "CLAUDE.md" — The One File That Makes AI Remember How You Work
Details
You open Claude. You explain your preferences. You get a decent result. Next session, you explain the same preferences again. And again. And again.
This is how most people work with AI: every session starts from zero. The model forgets who you are, what you care about, and how you want things done. So you compensate with longer prompts, more back-and-forth, and lower expectations.
One file fixes this. It is called CLAUDE.md.
In this session, I will show you what CLAUDE.md is, what goes into it, and what you should keep out. You will leave this session knowing:
- What CLAUDE.md does and where it lives in Claude Cowork
- The five sections that belong in every CLAUDE.md (and the three things that do not)
- How to write your first version in under 20 minutes
- Why CLAUDE.md is the foundation for everything else: Skills, connectors, and recurring workflows.
This Meetup is part of the launch week for my new Claude Cowork online course. The course covers the full system: Skills, evaluation, configuration, connectors, cost discipline, and bounded recurring workflows. If you want to go deeper after the session, the course will be available at a launch-week discount.
