Python workshop for beginners and beyond

Details

This workshop is suitable for those who are new to Python and those who have already started learning it and would like to go further.

This session is being offered at an introductory price. Payment can be made by PayPal (£33) or via bank transfer (£30 — please message me for details).

We will be working through a series of hands-on exercises, at the end of which, you will have working code, and instructions for how you can carry on when you get home.

We will be covering fundamental Python and programming concepts including variables, functions, loops, modules, conditionals, and using them to produce scripts that can communicate across a network.

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions throughout the session, and you will be able to go at your own pace and make the session what you need it to be.

*** You must bring a laptop to be able to take part! ***

Your laptop will need to have:

  • a modern web browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Edge, but not Internet Explorer)
  • wifi
  • an SSH client (Macs already have this; for Windows, we recommend PuTTY, which you can download for free from https://putty.org/)

Everything else will be provided.

The pub opens at 11am, and we will aim to start at 11:15. We will have a break for lunch (which you can get in the pub), and we will aim to finish by 5pm, but you are free to leave earlier if you need to.

Spaces are limited, but if there are more people interested than there are spaces, we will repeat this workshop.
