Join us to learn about Dorset buttons of the 1600's and Mussel Shell buttons from the 1800's.

By 1900 Iowa was producing over 1.5 billion mother-of-pearl buttons annually and shipping them around the globe. These factories played an important role in the union and labor movements of the day, and had their share of industrial spies!

We'll also learn about woven buttons such as the Dorset button and the Death's Head Leek Button and we'll make a button to take home.

If you've got antique or vintage buttons that you'd like to show the group, please bring them!

Cost for this meetup is $2 to cover meetup fees and supplies. Please bring a tapestry needle if you have one.

Hope to see you soon.
