Join us for our year of 1776 topics

For February, we're going to learn about St Louis and the Fur Trade in 1776.

In 1776, St. Louis was a burgeoning French fur trading post, serving as a vital hub where French traders exchanged European goods (guns, blankets, tools) with Osage and other Indigenous peoples for beaver and other valuable pelts.

St. Louis also played a crucial role in the American Revolution's western theater, primarily through the Battle of St Louis, where Spanish-allied defenders, including French settlers, repelled a British-led attack, securing the Mississippi River for the Americans and preventing British expansion into the Mississippi Valley.

Cost for this meetup will be $2 to cover the admin cost of our meetup group and our special guest speaker Doug Harding.

We look forward to seeing you in person.
