Revitalizing the group + Happiness meetup 11/22 with noted author as special guest

Hi all:

Thanks for your membership in the Portland Happiness Club. I'm excited to be the new organizer of the group. If you visit the site, you'll notice I changed some language and renamed the group: happierPortland - The Portland Happiness Club Meetup.

The mission of the group is still the same: to connect happiness enthusiasts with each other, to facilitate practitioners in their positive psychology work, and to learn from the experts in the science of happiness. If you tried to attend a meetup in the past, you may have had a poor experience. It happens with the best of groups and it can be a result of automatically-scheduling a meetup each month. The auto-scheduling is now off, and our first revitalized meetup will be on 11/22 on the campus of Portland State University Surprising Findings from the Science of Happiness - with a special guest presenter.

My goal is to ensure that our meetups are lively, well-attended, and engaging. I know that Daniel and the others involved with this group share the same goal, and I look forward to hearing your feedback and suggestions.

I recently helped revitalize similar groups in DC and Philadelphia. Click here for pictures from our first Philadelphia meeting. And click here for pictures from our first DC meeting. I'm doing an interview with CNN today focused on the success of the first happierDC meetup. I hope we see similar success in Portland! will be sponsoring this meetup initially. I'm from Portland but currently work much of the time in Philadelphia and DC. However, I'm frequently in Portland and I look forward to working with assistant organizers to develop high-quality, engaging meetups.

I hope you can come to the inaugural happierPortland Meetup on 11/22 and meet our special guest and noted author, Robert Biswas-Diener.

All the best,
