KL botanical gardens, 160 acres was opened 13 May 1889, by Sir Frank Swettenham, 1st Resident Governor General of Federated Malay States

Large variety of trees & plants from all over the world is still thriving now, some unique ones are Mahogany & Brazil Nut trees from the Amazon, 140 years old now & which lives up to a 1,000 years!

Tugu rainforests Park has is a carefully protected reserve with jungle trails. More than 4,000 trees averaging 8 – 10 years old, consisting of more than 230 indigenous Malaysian rainforest species are in the 60 acres site. These trees, sourced from nurseries, include 1,000 trees which are categorized as “Endangered” or “Critically Endangered” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (“IUCN”) such as the Keruing, Meranti, and Mersawa species.
