PUNK OUT & POOP OUT LOOP

I've been wanting to return to this area for quite some time. Last time I was there was in the Spring of 2023. During that time the canyon was filled with beautiful flowers and some of my favorite wildflowers Mariposa Lilly's.

We begin our ascent on Poop 0ut trail, a steep firebreak, then continue on to Punk Out as we take short breaks along the way.

We will be climbing 1500 feet in just a few short miles. If you are looking for a steep challenge with a great workout, you will definitely get your money's worth.

These firebreaks are used by firefighters who train carrying heavy packs and chain saws to prepare for wildfires.

After our break and admiring the views at the top we will descend Mystic & Dalton Canyons making it a loop hike.

We are starting early to beat the heat and we might finish early depending on the group.

Stats:
Distance- 6+ miles round trip
Gain-1500 (approximate)
Difficulty- strong intermediate, NO BEGINNERS
Terrain- steep rocky firebreak, & single track trail
Restrooms- none
Dogs- on a leash
Parking-dirt road

PARK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD, AT THE DIRT TURNOUT JUST PAST THE INTERSECTION WITH BIG DALTON CANYON

WHAT TO BRING: A POSITIVE ATTITUDE: energy snacks/lunch, 3 liters of water, electrolytes, sunscreen, hiking boots with good tread, poles if you like and the TEN ESSENTIALS.
