Hontoon Island State Park AVA YRE 5/10km Walks

Details
Join the Happy Wanderers as we visit Hontoon Island State Park - a unique "hidden gem" location on the St. John's River that once served as a settlement for Timucuan Indians.
Plan to arrive at the ferry parking area BETWEEN 8:30 -- 9:00 AM, to que for the ferry ride, and then we'll assemble on the island in the area in front of the Ranger Station / Store. Registration for the permanently-signed "FVA" 5km or 10km trails will start around 9:15 AM with a group walk as soon as everyone gets across and ready.
These walks are offered for AVA/IVV credit and rated 1C - flat & easy. The trails are gravel, dirt or grassy, and can be muddy in some places depending on recent weather - so we recommend you wear good sneakers, trail shoes or hiking boots. Carry drinking water and consider sunscreen and bug spray.
Event cost is $4.00 for all walkers, except children 12 and under. Leashed pets are permitted.
