Happy Wanderers Group Volksmarchs 6/10 Km - St. Augustine

Join the Happy Wanderers for these AVA-sanctioned 6 km (3.7 miles) or 10 km (6.2 miles) group walks in the historic Florida city of St. Augustine. Registration starts at 8:30 AM in the hotel lobby seating area.

Our walks visit many of the ancient and historic sites in the downtown, including the "big cross" and gardens at the Mission de Nombre de Dios Catholic Shrine, the Castillo de San Marco, the Bridge of Lions, the St. Augustine National Military Cemetery, the Lightner Museum Courtyard, Flagler University and the St. George's pedestrian shopping alley and Ancient Gates of the City.

You may walk with the group or at your own pace. The walks are rated 1C (some small hills & dirt trails.) The majority of the route is on city sidewalks and is generally suitable for wheelchairs/strollers. Maps and Directions are provided for the trails. Registration starts 30 minutes prior and the cost is $4.00 for participants 12yrs old or older. Children to be accompanied by an adult. Volksmarchers will receive IVV/AVA credit for this event.

St. Augustine is over an hour's drive from our area -- Driving north on I-95 take Exit 311 onto SR207. Turn right (NE) onto SR207. Drive 5.7 miles to US Hwy 1. Turn left onto US Hwy 1. Drive 1.9 miles to Sebastian Ave. and turn right for 1 block to San Marco Ave., then turn right and the Doubletree Hotel will be on your right. You can park on the opposite side of San Marco, or, turn right on Old Mission Ave. and park on the right curb next to the hotel.
