Join us in the Orlando, FL area for the 34th edition of "Walk Around Florida" (WAF34) - a three-day weekend walking festival sponsored by the Happy Wanderers, Mid-Florida Milers (Orlando) and Suncoast Sandpipers (Tampa) of Central Florida, and AVA: America's Walking Club! We expect over 100 walkers for our events this weekend, participating individually, couples, or small groups.

You may be pre-registered (for brochure - see our website: www.happywanderersfl.org) or register on-site the same day at the start/finish point in Lakefront Park, St. Cloud and start the walk anytime between 8:30 - 10:00 AM, with the event finishing by 12:30 PM Our pavilion is at the east end of Lakefront Park (not in the center) - use the parking area at Lakeshore Drive & Michigan Ave. and follow "Walk Starts Here" signs to the "Sleeping Tiger" Pavilion #2.

You will walk for 1 hour or 2 hours exploring the lakefront and downtown of historic and picturesque St. Cloud, to include several murals and visiting parks & green spaces along the way. Historic St. Cloud, called the Soldier City, was founded in 1909 as a retirement community for Civil War Union veterans. The Sugar Belt Railway was opened in 1888 but the sugar crops were later ruined in The Great Freeze of 1895. St. Cloud was incorporated as a city in 1915. The Veterans' Memorial Library was operated by the Woman's Club of St. Cloud and is now the St. Cloud Heritage Museum, opened in 2005.

A map and written directions will be available at the start, and Checkpoints on the routes provide bathrooms, water and snacks.
The walks are AVA-rated 1A and are suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Pets (leashed) are permitted. After the walk there is a lunch "hot dog, chips & drink" lunch available for $5.00 to pre-registered participants, or while supplies last after that.

The event is $4.00 for all participants 12 and older. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. IVV credit will be available for all participants. AVA Special programs are listed in the registration brochure.
