📍 TRAILHEAD INFO – TRIPPET RANCH, TOPANGA STATE PARK
Our hike starts at Trippet Ranch, nestled in Topanga State Park in the Santa Monica Mountains. This scenic trailhead features shady groves, canyon views, and access to Eagle Rock, one of LA’s most iconic natural landmarks.

🗺️ Directions:
• From PCH: Go north on Topanga Canyon Blvd (4.7 mi), turn right on Entrada Road, and follow it into the park.
• From 101 Fwy: Exit Topanga Canyon Blvd, go south (3 mi), turn left on Entrada Road, and continue to the lot.

• $5 after 4 PM
• Pay at the self-serve kiosk (cash or card)
• Free but limited parking available just outside the entrance along Entrada Road — arrive early and check signs.

🥾 TRAIL EXPERIENCE: SCENIC VIEWS & A STONE SUMMIT

The Musch Trail to Eagle Rock loop is a favorite for its mix of nature, moderate challenge, and iconic views.

We’ll begin on Musch Trail, a well-shaded, single-track path that gradually climbs through oak woodlands, grassy slopes, and coastal chaparral. Along the way, we’ll enjoy canyon breezes, birdsong, and expanding views of the Santa Monica Mountains.

Our destination is Eagle Rock — a towering sandstone formation that juts out from the mountainside like a bird in flight. From the top, enjoy panoramic 360° views of Topanga Canyon, the Pacific Ocean, and even Downtown LA on clear days.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Reaching the summit involves a short but steep rock scramble. It’s not technical, but does require using your hands for balance and care on sloped rock.
• If you prefer not to scramble, you can wait comfortably at the base, which offers excellent views and is just a few steps from the summit.
• The group will reconvene after a break and photo stop at the top.

We’ll then descend via Eagle Springs Fire Road, a wide, gently sloped trail that completes the loop with great views and a relaxing downhill return to Trippet Ranch.

This loop is perfect for anyone seeking a balanced hike with a bit of adventure and amazing scenery.
