MUSIC IN HARMONY

Come sing some classic songs and learn more about our Music In Harmony program. This is open to everyone, bring a friend and grab some pizza next door at Round Table, then sing a song with us. Lyrics and music provided, just bring your voice.

INFORMATION ON THE PROGRAM
We recently launched a new program called MUSIC IN HARMONY where we visit senior facilities that focus on people with dementia or Alzheimers and sing along with them. The first facility that we have been working with is open Mon-Friday from 8am - 5pm and as such, this is an afternoon event, normally starting around 1:30pm for 90 minutes.

We have been singing with them since February and are increasing the number of visits to weekly and talking to other facilities as well, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The songs tend to be older, tunes from the 60s-70s & 80s seem to work best, things they can sing along with, clap their hands and sometimes dance to.

Interesting thing about music, research shows that we form the bulk of our musical memories from our high school to early college years, for some reason those seem to stay intact, songs that have been well received so far include:

We know that your time is invaluable, but we are hoping that from time to time you might be available in the afternoon to join us, come lead a few songs or just sing backup - throughout May we are singing at the facility every Thursday - I believe you might also find it personally rewarding and hopefully you can join in.
