Old Rag is a challenging/strenuous hike with a mile of rock scrambling/hopping and tight squeezes, but the view is worth the effort.

You should be in your best physical shape to attempt this hike.

Elevation gain: 2,600 feet
Total Distance: 9.1 miles
Stream crossings: zero

Parking: We will park at the Old Rag parking lot (see location map).

What to Bring: Make sure your emergency contact information is in your pack. Bring your park pass, day pass, hiking boots/shoes, 3 liters of water, electrolytes, layered clothing, snacks, and first aid kit.

Important: In addition to a Park Pass or Entry Fee, you need a Old Rag Day Pass ($1) to access the trail. These are not available for purchase at the trailhead. You must buy them online (in advance. No cell service at the trailhead) at https://go.nps.gov/oldragticket
