2026 Rocktown Author Festival

The Rocktown Author Festival is back!

Massanutten Regional Library (MRL)'s Rocktown Author Festival is an annual event that celebrates local authors and offers support to attendees who wish to become published authors!

It's held in April at Central Library in downtown Harrisonburg. 2026's Festival will include a free, open forum for the public to meet and greet 33 local authors (including Kurt Johnson, contributor to CHARLOTTESVILLE FANTASTIC, SHENANDOAH FANASTIC, and VIRGINIA FANTASTIC), purchase their works, and get signatures!

Additionally, kids can enjoy a Story Time at 10:30 AM hosted by local children's author Gayle C. Krause, while adults can attend a panel at 12:30 PM, What I Wish I'd Known: Authors Talk Marketing (registration required). At 1:30 PM, we're excited to welcome journalist and author Beth Macy as our keynote speaker (registration required).
