[ONLINE] Harry Potter "Sorcerer's Stone" Book Club: Chs 1-2

This week we'll be reading "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone"! Unlike regular book clubs, we're (re)reading the HP novels a few chapters at a time. As we just finished the series, we're taking "I Open At The Close" seriously and starting again back at the beginning :D

We'll be discussing Ch. 1: 'The Boy Who Lived' and Ch. 2: 'The Vanishing Glass'. A quick summary: the Dursley family have a relatively normal day, the secret wizarding society celebrates Lord Voldemort's defeat (and Lily and James Potter are murdered off-screen), Albus Dumbledore is Albus Dumbledore-y while Minerva McGonagall's a cat, and baby Harry Potter is left on a doorstep (in November??). ... Then we fast-forward 10 years to Harry living under a cupboard (?!), we learn about the odd things that have happened to Harry (and the arguably odder things his relatives do), and while Harry bonds with a snake his cousin Dudley has a very un-happy birthday at the zoo.

First-timers are always welcome and the reading is only meant to be a jump-off point for conversation. Don't worry if you're a newcomer, as each book club is independent of each other. It's also fine if you don't have time to read or finish the text; we're an informal bunch and just love to chat!
