[ONLINE] Harry Potter Discussion: Winter at Hogwarts
Details
Celebrate 'Winter at Hogwarts' with a Harry Potter Discussion Night! Come along for Weasley jumpers, Yule Ball ships, and Mirror of Erised reminiscing. As well as polyjuice potion, Godric's Hollow angst, Fred and George hitting Voldemort with snowballs ... you get the picture.
As regulars will know, we use the theme simply as a starting point. We'll go off on any number of tangents (Potter related or no), so it's a pretty informal discussion/chat. The times are also approximate: if you're late, leave early, or want to stay for longer, it's all absolutely fine.
We'll be on Google Meet this week, where the link is visible to RSVPs.
Some questions we might touch on:
- Why did Harry get entranced by the Mirror of Erised? What do you think Dumbledore really saw?
- What did the Christmas holidays represent in the series? For example: were they more 'warm and cozy family' or 'bittersweet nostalgia'?
- Perhaps Harry's best present was the Invisibility Cloak, one of the Deathly Hallows. Which of the Hallows would you choose to own?
- Did the Yule Ball help move the plot along? Did it introduce a romance subplot to the series?
- If you could get any magical holiday gift, what would you want?
- Was polyjuice potion the best way to determine if Draco Malfoy was behind the Chamber of Secrets?
- Tom Riddle's birthday is on the New Year. Does this reflect a further parallel/opposition to Harry Potter?
I hope to see you there!
