[ONLINE] Harry Potter Discussion: Exes & Heartbreak
Details
This week we'll be talking about exes and heartbreak in "Harry Potter"! From teary kisses, messy relationships, unrequited love, to whatever was happening at the Yule Ball... we'll have it all. Thank you so much Ceren for the idea!
As regulars will know, we use the theme simply as a starting point. We'll go off on any number of tangents (Potter-related or no), so it's a pretty informal discussion/chat. The times are also approximate: if you get here late, leave early, or want to stay for longer, it's all absolutely fine.
Some of the questions we might touch on:
- Under less tragic circumstances, do you think Harry and Cho could have worked?
- Was the Yule Ball an 'accurate-ish' portrayal of messy teenage relationships?
- How was unrequited love portrayed in the series—such as with Lily and Snape, Ron and Lavender, or Grindelwald and Dumbledore?
- Which couple do you just not 'get' in the books?
- Should amortentia and other love potions be illegal?
- “'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” Was the complete Lack of love (such as with Voldemort) more of a tragic plot point than other characters' heartbreaks?
If this is too sad, never fear! We'll have a Valentine's Day meetup soon where we'll talk about love being the "greatest power of them all" :D
IMPORTANT: We're on Google Meet this week! The direct link to the Meet page is shown once you've RSVPed.
I hope to see you there!
