[ONLINE] Harry Potter "Chamber of Secrets" Book Club: Chs 5-6

This week we'll be reading "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"! Unlike regular book clubs, we're (re)reading the HP novels a few chapters at a time.

We'll be discussing Ch. 5: 'The Whomping Willow' and Ch. 6: 'Gilderoy Lockhart'. Here's a quick summary: The Weasley Family only just make it to King's Cross Station in time, but Harry and Ron get locked out of the platform, so the two 12 year olds naturally decide to steal the Weasleys' car and fly it from London to Scotland! Somehow they make it to Hogwarts, only to 'meet' the Whomping Willow. Then Somehow they aren't expelled (to Snape's chagrin). Then there's a howler, we learn about mandrakes (absolutely not a foreshadow), Colin Creevey is introduced, and we get Lockhart's first...memorable...DADA class.

Also, the HBO "Harry Potter" tv show trailer is live! It's pretty short, but I'm sure we'll overanalyze it :D

First-timers are always welcome and the reading is only meant to be a jump-off point for conversation. Don't worry if you're a newcomer, as each book club is independent of each other. It's also fine if you don't have time to read or finish the text; we're an informal bunch and just love to chat!
