[ONLINE] Harry Potter "Chamber of Secrets" Book Club: Chs 13-14

This week we'll be reading "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"! Unlike regular book clubs, we're (re)reading the HP novels a few chapters at a time.

We'll be discussing Ch. 13: 'The Very Secret Diary' and Ch. 14: 'Cornelius Fudge'. Here's a quick summary: Harry gets Tom Riddle's 'blank' diary, Lockhart jazzes up Valentine's Day, Harry gets an interesting sung Valentine, Harry chats to Riddle's diary, and sees Riddle's memories of who once opened the Chamber of Secrets—gasp! It was Hagrid! In the next chapter Harry decides to not ask Hagrid about any of this, someone steals Riddle's diary, Harry hears a homicidal voice again, and just before a Quidditch match Hermione and Penelope Clearwater are petrified. Harry and Ron then witness Dumbledore being suspended while Hagrid's carted off to Azkaban.

First-timers are always welcome and the reading is only meant to be a jump-off point for conversation. Don't worry if you're a newcomer, as each book club is independent of each other. It's also fine if you don't have time to read or finish the text; we're an informal bunch and just love to chat!
