[ONLINE] Harry Potter "Prisoner of Azkaban" Book Club: Chs 4-6

This week we'll be reading "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"! Unlike regular book clubs, we're (re)reading the HP novels a few chapters at a time.

We'll be discussing the beginning of the book, from Ch. 4: 'The Leaky Cauldron' through Ch. 6: 'Talons and Tea Leaves'. Here's a quick summary: Harry has a great rest of the summer at Diagon Alley where he (and us readers!) explores the magical shops, Hermione and Ron joins him and the former gets a cat Crookshanks, and the ominous Sirius Black looms in the background. Then they're off to Hogwarts where they see the sleeping Professor Remus Lupin on the train, who wakes up in the nick of time (to save the day with chocolate) when dementors board the train and Harry passes out. At Hogwarts Hagrid is the new Care of Magical Creatures professor, the Divination professor's convinced Harry's going to die (which, fair enough), and Hagrid's first class goes awry when Draco insults a hippogriff.

First-timers are always welcome and the reading is only meant to be a jump-off point for conversation. Don't worry if you're a newcomer, as each book club is independent of each other. It's also fine if you don't have time to read or finish the text; we're an informal bunch and just love to chat!
