Join us at a Harry Potter Discussion! This week we'll be chatting about the faculty/professors at Hogwarts: the good, the bad, and the Voldemort-possessed. Everything from the DADA curse, Hogwarts curriculum, and the often-forgotten teachers will be covered.

This idea came about due to Minerva McGonagall's birthday (October 4th, thank you Krista for reminding me!) and the idea that all the Hogwarts professors deserved some love (thank you for this Annabella, and for the event's name!). It was also pointed out that Snape and Dumbledore are so complex/controversial that the conversation might be focussed on them, so we'll try to steer towards the more overlooked faculty.

We use the theme simply as a starting point. We'll go off on any number of tangents (Potter-related or no), so it's a pretty informal discussion/chat. We'll be on Google Meet this week, with the link visible to RSVPs.

Some questions we might touch on:

  • Was Minerva McGonagall overworked?
  • Which Hogwarts class would you love to take?
  • Who was the best Head of House?
  • Should any of the core classes have been electives, or vice versa?
  • Who was the best and who was the worst DADA teacher?
  • Was Hagrid a good teacher? Was Trelawney a fraud?
  • With all the house-elves cleaning, what exactly was Filch's job?
  • What were some classes that were 'missing' from Hogwarts' curriculum?

I hope to see you there!
