After work Hike Sessions Woods, Burlington CT

Details

I am running the after work hikes designed for beginners and first times hikers. These events are shorter and less technical than the weekend events.

We will hike Sessions Woods Preserve in Burlington as an after work hike. We will make this a 3.5 mile loop on the groomed trail that circles the park. We will check out the beaver pond, the waterfall and the fire tower. On this event one of own hikers and Master Naturalist candidate Nancy Nelson will share nature info for any other nature nerds joining us.

The Sessions Woods preserve has a large sign on the road. When you pull in the road doubles back, at the top of the hill turn left into the parking area. There will be a bunch of state vehicles and a large building with flags. If the preserve is open, there will be a bathroom. There have been port-o-potties on the property this season. I will park somewhere in the middle and have my back gate up.

You need to bring pack that includes water, snacks, bug spray, head lamp of flash light, all in a pack. Please no children or dogs.

Please check your route, download the GPS at home, know your travel time. Arrive early enough to start at the posted start time.
Items you must consider for every event:

  • If you have an event after a hike, please do not sign up for the hike.
  • End times are only an estimate.
  • The group will not adjust speed or trail route to accommodate your schedule.
  • If you cannot attend an event, please cancel 48 hours before. Late cancellations are rude and take away the option for others to join the event.
  • Be a good hiking human.

I have some folks who have no showed on hikes with waitlists. You will be removed from this event.

Waitlist policy: If you get on the hike, you are on. If you are put on the waitlist, I reserve the right to let people off the waitlist as I see fit. For large hikes, I will typically let waitlisted hikers on in the order you signed up. For small hikes, I may jump people - typically those who I know will not require effort to manage.

We are in the bear's home so will be loud and leave them alone.
