Hike Naugatuck State Forest West Block (Oxford, CT)

The weather in New Hampshire is not going to be good so I am staying local.
Naugatuck State Park is a large park that borders Rt. 8. This 8 mile hike will include a large variety of terrain. There is climbing, kind trails, steep descents, a waterfall to climb, and many views. This loop is a little bit of everything.
Hikers need to assess their ability to keep a 30 minute mile pace. We definitely stop for breaks and photo moments.

Please bring a pack to carry snacks, water, layers of clothing, camera. There are no bathrooms at the trailhead parking. No children. I need to know your dog-there is some challenging climbing around the waterfall.

I have not hiked here since 2024 when there were big washouts. I have been given some information that highlights rock scrambles in the washed out areas.

Park in the large lot across the Street from 350 Chestnut Tree Hill Road Oxford CT. If you click on the map here, it will take you to the parking area.

Please check your route, download the GPS at home, know your travel time. Arrive early enough to start at the posted start time.
