Heublin Tower from Penwood SP, Simsbury CT
Details
Winter conditions hike. You must be prepared for the weather and trail conditions. Micro spikes are required. Posted time is the time I start walking. Give yourself enough time to arrive and get ready.
There is another way up to the Heublin Tower. Don't over think this-go to Penwood park in Simsbury. We will cross the busy route 185 and head up the red blue trail to summit the tower. This is a 6.5 mile hike with the first 3 miles being uphill. It will be a moderate hike. We hike as a group so please keep that in mind when you respond. Please read the description and assess your ability to complete this hike in the time window posted. I do not leave folks behind but you must show up with hiking skills and proper equipment.
You must have winter gear-micro spikes required. You will need a pack with water, food, a whistle, basic medical stuff, layered clothing, poles. Winter knee socks are great with hiking boots.
We will stop at the summit, Heublin Tower, and enjoy the views and have some snacks.
Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash and not allowed to run through the group. No kids.
Please be aware of the NO PARKING signs now posted at Penwood.
Items you must consider for every event:
- If you have an event after a hike, please do not sign up for the hike.
- End times are only an estimate.
- The group will not adjust speed or trail route to accommodate your schedule.
- If you cannot attend an event, please cancel 48 hours before. Late cancellations are rude and take away the option for others to join the event.
- Be a good hiking human.
