First Thursday: Snowshoe Loop in Sessions Woods
Details
First Thursday hike locations vary; every month I try to find a different place but will revisit favorites from time to time.
Deep snow all around here so wear snowshoes or you'll likely be post-holing the whole way. This is a moderate no more than 3 mile loop through the woods in Sessions Woods. I'm going to keep this beginner level with no huge hills up or down.
Sessions Woods is halfway between Rt. 6 in Bristol and Rt. 4 in Burlington on Rt. 69. There is a large brown wooden sign at the entrance; you can't see anything else from the road, but trust me it's up the driveway. The address appears to be a bit north of the actual entrance so keep your eyes peeled. We'll meet in the large parking lot on the left with state vehicles and the large wildlife management building. There is almost always a Port-o-potty adjacent to the parking lot by the gazebo and the building is usually open on weekdays.
I have a blue Kia Niro and will park in the middle of the lot with my hatch open. We'll try to start at 9:30 am promptly so please be there by 9:15. Plan on 2-3 hours depending on the pace of group. Beginners are welcome. I don't run in the woods and don't leave people out in the woods.
You will need to bring at least a liter of water, snacks and a pack to carry them. If it's sunny, bring sunscreen. If it's rainy bring rain gear or ponchos, towels and dry clothes; we'll go rain or shine. Lightning or hurricane cancels. Hiking boots are a must for this hike and I strongly suggest you bring some kind of traction. Jeans will chafe and ruin your day. Dogs and kids 10 and up are welcome, but must be on a leash at all times.

If the weather turns completely crappy, I'll make a decision at 7am about cancelling.
