Hike Mt. Sanford and Roaring Brook Falls, Hamden, CT

Mt. Sanford is part of the Naugatuck Forest System. It lies to the west of Sleeping Giant and is above Roaring Brook Falls. The plan is a 7 mile loop from the east side of Sanford up and over and then out and back to Roaring Brook Falls. We will be on the Quinnipiac Trail for the falls part. This part of the trail leads to the top of the falls. Once back from the falls we will finish the loop back to cars.

I can guarantee it will be gooey out on the trails. There is also no leaves on trees so a sunny day will require sunscreen. I strongly recommend waterproof hiking boots, hiking poles due to the uneven terrain, and a pack with water, food, and layered clothing. Dogs must be on leash and not running through the group. No kids.

Parking will be on the road by the YMCA Camp Mt. Laurel. You will park at the cul-de-sac before the camp entrance. The forest entrance has limited parking. There are no bathrooms at the trail head so plan ahead.
Finish times are approximate.

Please check your route, download the GPS at home, know your travel time. Arrive early enough to start at the posted start time.

• The group will not adjust speed or trail route to accommodate your schedule.
• If you cannot attend an event, please cancel 48 hours before. Late cancellations are rude and take away the option for others to join the event.
