Hike Mt.Ascutney Vermont, Weathersfield trail

NEW HAMPSHIRE TRAINING HIKE.
It's crunch time for Washington. Those who have not done any events should consider skipping New Hampshire this year.
All hikers will start on the waitlist and be moved over manually. Preference to those who have been attending training hikes this year.
Please make sure you understand this a long drive. We must get there early to get parking.

Mt. Ascutney State Park in Windsor Vermont is a beautiful park with a 3144 foot peak with great views. It is known for its lookout tower and the hang gliding platform. We are going across state lines (if you have an ankle bracelet lol). The ride is 2 hours from the Hartford Area.

Its a 6 mile and 2000 foot climb up to the top. We will explore the summit and make sure to see all the great views. We will hike up the Weathersfield Trail. To get there, head up Route 91 to exit 8, rt. 131. You are looking for Cascade Falls Rd a few mile up on the right-its dirt. There are no bathrooms at the trailhead. Use the gas station at the exit ramp.

Required are hiking boots, a day pack with weight increasing with water, snacks, lunch, whistle, extra shirt, camera, poles are a bonus. I would bring a bug net and hat. Bugs on the summit have been terrible.

Please check your route, download the GPS at home, know your travel time. Arrive early enough to start at the posted start time.

• If you have an event after a hike, please do not sign up for the hike.
• End times are only an estimate.
• The group will not adjust speed or trail route to accommodate your schedule.
• If you cannot attend an event, please cancel 48 hours before. Late cancellations are rude and take away the option for others to join the event.

At posting time, Google maps says the trail is closed. It mud season in Vermont right now. When we go it should be fine.
