### About this Workshop

Beyond Paperwork: Successful Onboarding Practices That Stick

Hired someone new? Don’t stop at the offer letter. This hour-long webinar will show you how to turn new hires into engaged, long-term team members through thoughtful, people-centered onboarding.
Led by HR Consultant Carlyn Wice, this session is designed for California small business and nonprofit leaders who want to boost retention, morale, and performance—starting on Day One. Spoiler alert: onboarding is not just a checklist. It’s your new hire’s first real experience of your culture, values, and expectations—and it starts before they walk in the door.
You’ll learn how to:
* Create a welcoming and mission-aligned Day One
* Build early connections through clear goals, feedback, and rituals
* Cover required forms and compliance without losing the human touch
* Use the first 90 days to build loyalty, confidence, and communication
* Avoid common onboarding gaps that lead to quick quits
Perfect for:
California-based small businesses and nonprofits looking to build a strong foundation with every new hire. Presented by:
Carlyn Wice, HR Consultant & Founder of Carlyn Carter Consulting

### Who is Carlyn Carter Wice?

“As-needed” HR services for your small business or non-profit. Remote-based. All industries welcome.
In the early 2000s, I taught psychology courses at community colleges and to youth at ("nerd") summer camp. After that, I worked for nine years with families and individuals as a social worker. I love both teaching and advocating for others.
In an unexpected turn of events, I became an empathetic ear, not only for the students and clients I served but for colleagues and coworkers as well. I began to see the shortcomings of academic and governmental employment and brushed up on employment law in my spare time. My passion shifted to helping burned-out employees AND the organizations that need them at their best.
During the pandemic In 2020, I pivoted my career to Human Resources from social work. Since then, I have helped nonprofits and small businesses become compliant with HR laws and regulations and build their workplace cultures. CCC started in 2023 and I could not have done It without help from professors, mentors, neighbors, friends, family, and previous employers. I hold a BA and MA in Psychology from USC and an MSHR from Pepperdine and cannot WAIT to hear YOUR story.
