Tom's phone if you need information: 713-781-1680. Do not count on cell phones working. Text messages will often get through when calls won't.

The 3PM CST start time is approximate. We will depart earlier or later depending on when we get organized at camp, allowing for expected arrivals and dinner plans. So please let Tom know your ETA. Please remember that daylight savings time starts at 2AM Sunday morning.

The Hike: The Window is the classic trail of Big Bend's Chisos Basin. The trail is well tread but is rough and rocky with an average 6 percent grade. The grade close to the Window is fairly steep. This is an out and back hike with the elevation gain on the return.

The Window is the water outlet from the basin where the mostly dry Oak Creek pours out during the occasional rain. When flowing, the creek cascades down to the desert below. Through more often water is to be found coming from the springs at the base of the mountain, where we will visit on Sunday.

For those that want to see the sunset through the Window, it occurs about 7:00 PM CST on Saturday. Other days it will be at ~8:00 PM CDT.
