CAMPING: I have reserved five sites in the Walnut Ridge camping area in the north half of the park. The cost is $200 for the weekend and will be split between all campers whether spending one night or two. There are cabins and screen shelters available in the park for people that prefer not to stay in tents.

WHAT TO DO ON ARRIVING AT THE PARK: If you arrive before the park office closes at 5PM on Friday, stop at the ranger station on the south side of Hwy. US 190, on Park Road 46 South. There is a $4.00 per person per day entry fee unless someone in your car has a State Parks Pass. Later arrivals may have to pay an excess vehicle fee. After registering, cross the highway and go to the Walnut Ridge area.
If you arrive after the office has closed. The campsites are on PR 46 north of US190. The site numbers and gate code (if any) will be posted in the comments. You will need to go to the office in the morning before we leave for the hike to register.
Drive to the assigned site and set up there, or in another site reserved for the group. Park your car at the assigned campsite or in the overflow parking. (We can fudge this if the rangers are in a good mood). No parking off the campsite driveway. If you're new to camping with us, just ask if you need some assistance.
NO-SHOWS: As a courtesy to fellow hikers, if your plans change, please change your attendance status to "NO" so others can be assured a camping spot. Thank you. Please see our "No Show" guidelines.

FOOD: Friday night dinner is by individual or carpool. Since the hikes are a bit of a drive away I am suggesting people eat breakfast at camp if they want to join the caravan to the trailhead.
Saturday Hike

Saturday after the hike we'll go to the Pickett House for the all you can eat family style dinner. https://www.heritage-village.org/pickett-house.htm
"The world famous Pickett House Restaurant serves boarding house style all you can eat fried chicken, chicken & dumplings, country vegetables, cobbler, biscuits and cornbread and all different condiments for your liking."
You may want something to eat later at camp or to go into Jasper for supper.
