Cypress Creek - Faulkey Gully Hike ~10.5 Miles
Details
We are instituting a new rule for HATs.
If you walk in front of the hike leader and miss a turn, you have to sing a verse of a hiking chanty. (Also spelled shanty, so Chad can read it.) Starting with "What do you do with a wayward hiker?" Actually it is the only rule, everything else is just suggestions.
The rule remains in effect until I get bored with it.
Gathering Place:
Grantwood Park entrance is on Grant Road, about 3/4 miles west of Jones Road. We will be gathering in the back of the park. Drive past the playground parking to the end of the road. Overflow parking is the next lot to the north.

The bathrooms are in the playground parking area at the front of the park.
The Hike:
From Grantwood Park, we will follow the mountain bike trails north along Cypress Creek through the 100 Acre Woods and join the Faulkey Gully hike and bike trails. The path is about half mountain bike trails. The remainder is a combination of grass levee and hike and bike paths. The first and last quarters are shaded with sun in the middle of the hike.
Caution is needed when hiking on mountain bike trails. While bikes are required to yield to pedestrians, it is safest for all if we step off the trail for them.

Please be considerate of others and use best practices at all times.
About HATS:
HATs organizers are not guides nor do we have any special training. We are here to come up with hiking ideas and get the hike started. Expect the same risks and take the same precautions you would take if you were hiking alone, including the fitness level to make long hikes. Then enjoy the hike among friends.
